Changes from the previous version:
- Got initial support of -turbo mode working again! Yay! I'm currently working now to make the -turbo mode generate specific tray menus, depending on the application.
I know once I release some initial -turbo mode support, I'm going to get flooded with additional requests on how to tweak it. Oh well, that should be fun.
- Fixed a problem with Seamonkey. The extension can now install in it, if you fight it for a bit. It seems a Seamonkey bug is causing this extra hassle.
- Fixed problems with the tray menu for Sunbird and Mozilla Suite. This also allowed for more functional menus to appear in Seamonkey.
- March 1, 2005 -
- I released a new version a couple of weeks ago.
Changes from the previous version:
- Released new versions on http://addons.mozilla.org. This should make the extension more visible to the general public, and make it easier for me to send out updates.
- Added a few more localizations.
- Fixed a problem with Thunderbird's composed email window getting minimized.
- Apparently I fixed the update.xml file so older users can auto update.
- September 16, 2005 -
- Released version 0.0.1.2005091606+ of MinimizeToTray.
Changes from the previous version:
- Added support for new Mozilla app versions.
- The extension description is now localizeable
- Changed the default behavior for restoring a window from the tray to
a double click. This should be final, as double clicking is the
standard method for restoring tray icon windows.
- Added and updated a number of localizations.
As always, thanks to all who have provided help with locales, code, bug
reports, suggestions, etc. There are far too many to mention by name!
- June 7, 2005 -
- Released version 0.0.1.2005060604+ of MinimizeToTray.
Changes from the previous version:
- The file msvcr711.dll is not needed anymore. The extension is
no longer dependent on it.
- The window actually minimizes to the taskbar before going
invisible. This lets Windows reduce the Mozilla app's Mem Usage
footprint.
- Bug affecting WindowsBlinds 4.5 and PGP 8.1 from minimizing is
fixed. We also are pretty confident we've fixed the nVidia
Desktop Manager main conflict (though side conflicts remain).
- The extension can now compile under Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
- Trunk builds are now supported.
- Composed/new email message windows can no longer minimize to the
tray.
- A Minimize To Tray menu option is now located in the File Menu
(and the Shift+Ctrl+M also displays next to the menu option)
- Sunbird and Nvu are now supported. (This extension now works
with Firefox, Thunderbird, the Mozilla Suite, Calendar/Sunbird, and Nvu)
- A double click on the tray icon is now requires to restore the
window. Previously, it required a single click.
- New locales have been added for Japanese, Simplified Chinese,
Finnish, Norwegian, Portuguese, and Euskara/Basque.
- An easy to use perl script to build the rest of the extension if
the extensions .dll has already been created.
- A number of other small bug fixes.
- Web page changes to reflect the new changes. Including a
much more descriptive and easier to understand instructions on how to
build the extension.
Main Problems:
- -turbo mode still has lots of issues
- If nVidia's Desktop Manager is running, then on the first restart of
the Mozilla app, the Mozilla app will display either an error message,
or the window will not appear at all. Once the program is
terminated and restarted, either error goes away.
- Also, if nVidia's Desktop Manager is running, the middle click to
minimize a group of windows does not work.
- The tray icon menu does not work for the Mozilla Suite, Calendar,
Sunbird, or Nvu
Future enhancements that would be really nice:
- Have an option to minimize to tray if the Close button is selected.
- Have an option to restore the window with a single click on the tray
icon, instead of a double click.
- Fix a bunch of other bugs that annoy people.
- June 12, 2005 -
- Released version 0.0.1.2005061123+ of MinimizeToTray.
Changes from the previous version:
- A single click is now required to restore a tray window, and a
checkbox exists in the extension's options to have a double click
restore the window.
- A preference window bug has been fixed. The window should now
be able to resize itself automatically to support different types of
font sizes and phrase lengths.
